Rejuvenate Your Smile with Porcelain Veneers

Rejuvenate Your Smile with Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers placed by your Worcester dentist Dr. Frederick Bayon correct a variety of cosmetic dental issues. Camouflaging cracks, dark stains, gaps, hairline cracks, and more, these super-thin ceramic laminates rejuvenate smiles and reinforce tooth structure. At Dr. Banyon & Dr. Enkin Family Dentistry, you could receive this popular service and be simply thrilled with the results.

It takes three steps

Receiving porcelain veneers takes some thought and planning. During your first visit with our Worchester dentist, you'll discuss how you expect your smile to change. Dr. Frederick Banyon will examine and X-ray your teeth, take photos and oral impressions and then tell you what aesthetic treatments are possible and preferable.

At your second office visit, your dentist will resurface the teeth receiving porcelain veneers. This gentle buffing removes about 1/2 millimeter of enamel, ensuring a proper veneer fit. Then, he'll place temporary laminates over each tooth.

When you return to the dental office, the dentist will take off the temporary veneers and try on your new veneers. Finally, he'll use a tooth-colored bonding cement, permanently placing the veneers.

Caring for porcelain veneers

For a few days, your mouth will feel different, but you'll soon adjust. You'll be pleased with the lifelike shape and color of your rejuvenated teeth.

Be sure to brush and floss carefully every day. Non-abrasive tooth gels and soft brushes keep veneer surfaces shiny. See Dr. Banyon for your regular check-ups and professional cleanings every six months. Clean veneer margins avoid decay and gum disease.

Also, avoid biting down on hard foods, such as nuts and ice, and opening bottles and packaging with your teeth. Ask your dentist about how to reduce bruxism--habitual teeth clenching and grinding--with a customized bit guard.
